There are a few simple ways to tell so that you know which way is nose (aka tip) and which way is tail. Measure from one end of the snowboard to the first set of binding holes (those closest to the end). Measure from the other end of the snowboard to the first set of binding holes at that end. Whichever distance is the greater distance will be the nose end. Check the graphics. If there are any graphics or words that have a certain way up and they run width-ways across the board then if you stand the board with its tail on the ground and nose at the top then the writing/graphic will be the right way up. Go to an online store that sells the board or to the manufacturer’s website. Usually the board will be shown vertically (like the shots above). The nose is at the top and the tail at the bottom.

1. Check the Curve: Lay your board flat, and you'll notice the nose is usually a bit more curved upward compared to the tail. 2. Graphic Peek: Take a peek at the graphic on the underside of your board. If it's vertical, the top is the nose. Horizontal? The left side's the nose. 3. Colored Hardware: Swap out a screw or two with some colored ones at the nose. Easy peasy way to spot it mid-ride. 4. Grip Tape Tricks: Your grip tape can also help. Like the underside graphic, if it's vertical, the top's the nose. 5. Grip Tape Lines or Gaps: If you're rocking all-black grip tape, get crafty and cut it in a way that marks the nose and tail.

Inspect the graphic, they are usually directional and point to the front. Check the shape, the higher and longer end is the front of your board. Inspect Both Ends For Length and Angles. The front (nose) is often longer and has a steeper upward curve. The back (tail) is shorter and less steep angle. The nose is a bit longer and further from the ground than the tail. When you put your skateboard on the ground on an even surface, the difference should be visible. Mark your grip tape once you figure our the front or use colored hardware. Use a different Colored Wheel. The nose of a skateboard longer and has a steeper angle than the tail, often noticeable when standing on one side or the other on your board. The nose of a skateboard is longer and higher from the ground compared to the tail.
